Its A Family Thing

I have been a bit busy and that means that I have been a but lazy about posting.  So my many apologies.  I have posted pictures of my family before.  They are a great bunch of people that like to get together as often as possible.  They are great as photography subjects because they have very expressive faces and they are always laughing.

This specific event was a chance to catch up with my cousin Brent (Bubba) Workman who is currently stationed in San Diego with the U.S. Navy as well as his family.

I did something a bit different at this BBQ with the pictures as well.  And that was I handed the camera over to a few random cousins to take pictures.  This meant that I actually made it into some of the pictures

We even let some of the kids take a few.

Like most families (the Gotti's excluded) we like to document our high jinks and so I am going to link to this album HERE and at the bottom as well. I would also like to add in a shameless plug.  Please take a moment to become a follower.  You can find the link at the top right. At the very least leave a comment.  You can do that at the bottom of this post.

I thought I would just add a few more that I thought turned out well.

For those of you who have more urban sensibilities the women in my family are not trying to restart a westside gang rivalry.  Just flashing the Workman "W".

And to cap off the evening some of the more adventurous Workman Woman decided they needed to climb a waterfall.

And then jump into the Snake River.

A Day at the Beach

It is a cooker out here and so as the saying goes "Any port in the storm..." which meant that the Workman family found the nearest thing to a port in South-East Idaho, Willow Bay Marina on the American Falls Reservoir

The kids found many different ways to enjoy the sun and water...

They even found a piece of the "Titanic"

Much like apple pie, baseball, and arguing politics the group photo is an American tradition

On a day like this the sun is everywhere which makes taking color pictures difficult but for Black & White pictures the extra light is a big help

I think that this is going to be the next ad campaign for Sun Chips

My Cousin Amanda says that Black & White makes everyone look better...

I agree.

The water was a nice relief from the heat.

Its A Workman Thing

Holidays are always a chance for family gatherings and my family take every advantage to get together but patriotic holidays are extra special for the Workman family because we practice Americanism like it is a religion.  Here is a look at the mayhem and love when we get together.

Getting a group of people together for a picture can be a challenge.

And then of course it can be really simple.

Oh and no they are not afflicted by some strange skin disease.  Face painting was the activity for the kids this year.  We're just not sure which are the kids and which are the adults.

Here are some of the Aunts and Uncles

The cousins on the other hand were not so sedate

The signature of any Workman gathering has to be the children

Despite the barely-controlled chaos there is always a lot of jokes, tons of stories, and even a little affection.

Here are a couple pictures that I really like because they make a comment on how are family works

I often say that I miss my family but it isn't until I see them that I realize how much I truly miss them.

Speaking of missing people it wouldn't be a family get together without remembering how it all started.
